Attendance by Reserve Members

To note the attendance at this meeting of any duly appointed Reserve Members.

 

Reserve Members may attend meetings:-

 

(i)                 to take the place of an ordinary Member for whom they are a reserve;

(ii)               where the ordinary Member will be absent for the whole of the meeting; and

(iii)             the meeting notes at the start of the meeting at the item ‘Reserves’ that the Reserve Member is or will be attending as a reserve;

(iv)              if a Reserve Member whose intention to attend has been noted arrives after the commencement of the meeting, then that Reserve Member can only act as a Member from the start of the next item of business on the agenda after his/her arrival.

Agenda Item 7 – Review of Polling Districts and polling Places

Councillor Michael Borio declared a non-pecuniary interest in that he was a Queensbury Ward Councillor.  He would remain in the room whilst the matter was considered and voted upon.

 

Councillor Lynda Seymour declared a non-pecuniary interest in that she was a member of a synagogue.  She would remain in the room whilst the matter was considered and voted upon.

Members received a report which outlined the recommendations of the Working Group established to undertake a review of the Council’s polling districts and polling places, as required by the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013.

 

The Chair of the Polling District and Places Review Working Group advised that the majority of the recommendations contained within the report could not be implemented prior to 1 December 2014, the publication date of the electoral register.  This register would be used for the General Election on 7 May 2015.

 

A Member commented that consideration should be given to the provision of additional security at the synagogues that were to be used as polling stations.

 

RESOLVED:  That the recommendations of the Working Group in relation to individual polling districts and polling places for the next four years be approved.
