Attendance by Reserve Members

To note the attendance at this meeting of any duly appointed Reserve Members.

 

Reserve Members may attend meetings:-

 

(i)                 to take the place of an ordinary Member for whom they are a reserve;

(ii)               where the ordinary Member will be absent for the whole of the meeting; and

(iii)             the meeting notes at the start of the meeting at the item ‘Reserves’ that the Reserve Member is or will be attending as a reserve;

(iv)              if a Reserve Member whose intention to attend has been noted arrives after the commencement of the meeting, then that Reserve Member can only act as a Member from the start of the next item of business on the agenda after his/her arrival.

The item was considered to contain exempt information under paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972, in that it contained information relating to an individual.

Admissions to County Schools

Report of the Corporate Director Children’s Services.

Minutes:

In accordance with the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, cases H49, H50, H51, H52 and H53 were admitted late to the agenda to allow the Panel to allocate an appropriate place to the applicants.  It was noted that case H48 had been circulated with the main agenda.

 

On 3 February 2010, there were six children for whom admissions staff could make no reasonable offer of a school place.  The Education Admissions and Awards Advisory Panel was requested to authorise the admission of these pupils to schools where no places existed in the relevant year group.

 

The Panel noted a letter from Canons High School which stated that the school did not have capacity to accept any further year 11 students. 

 

Additional information setting out the Pupil Roll as at 3 February 2010 at various schools was circulated to Members at the meeting.

 

Members requested information about the attendance policy of certain schools in the Borough and officers undertook to circulate this information.

 

Resolved to RECOMMEND:  That offers of admission to schools be made as follows:
