RECOMMENDATION 1 - Admissions to County Schools

Minutes:

In accordance with the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, cases H37 and H38 were admitted late to the agenda to allow the Panel to allocate an appropriate place to the applicants.

 

On 28 October 2009 there were 4 children for whom admissions staff could make no reasonable offer of a school place.  The Education Admissions and Awards Advisory Panel was requested to authorise the admission of these pupils to schools where no places existed in the relevant year group.

 

Resolved to RECOMMEND:

 

That offers of admission to school be made as follows:

PART II - MINUTES

Attendance by Reserve Members

To note the attendance at this meeting of any duly appointed Reserve Members.

 

Reserve Members may attend meetings:-

 

(i)                 to take the place of an ordinary Member for whom they are a reserve;

(ii)               where the ordinary Member will be absent for the whole of the meeting; and

(iii)             the meeting notes at the start of the meeting at the item ‘Reserves’ that the Reserve Member is or will be attending as a reserve;

(iv)              if a Reserve Member whose intention to attend has been noted arrives after the commencement of the meeting, then that Reserve Member can only act as a Member from the start of the next item of business on the agenda after his/her arrival.

Adviser to the Panel

Report of the Corporate Director of Children’s Services.

In accordance with the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, the report of the Corporate Director of Children’s Services was admitted late to the agenda to allow a decision to be taken on possible appointments.

 

The Panel received a report from the Corporate Director of Children’s Services, recommending that the Panel note the position with regard to the current adviser to the Panel and seek nominations from primary and secondary head teacher groups to nominate advisers to the Education Admissions and Awards Advisory Panel.

 

Having considered the report, the Panel was of the view that an advisor to the Panel was not required at present.

 

RESOLVED:  That (1) it be noted that the current adviser to the Panel had left the services of the Authority;

 

(2)  the Panel would appoint an adviser should it feel that there was a need to do so.
